- ABSTRACT The aim of this study was to assess eating disorders (ED) in adolescent students on the basis of self-reports and interviews. The sample was composed of 318 high school students of Buenos Aires city (49% men and 51% women). The instruments used were: sociodemographic and eating related data, the ICA inventory, and a clinical interview on the basis of DSM-IV-TR criteria. In the first phase, a 16.03% of possible cases of ED were detected, whereas in the interview phase only 4.08% of the sample met criteria for ED (11 women and 3 men). This represents a 6.79% of female sample and a 1.28% of male sample. A 77% corresponded to ED not specified, and a 23% to bulimia nervosa. Cases of bulimia nervosa were exclusively female. Results confirm the higher prevalence of this disease in adolescent female population, with a gender ratio of 5.5.

RESUMEN
El objetivo de este estudio es evaluar trastornos de la conducta
alimentaria (TCA) en estudiantes adolescentes en base a inventarios y entrevistas. Participaron 318 estudiantes de escuelas medias de la Ciudad de Buenos Aires (49% hombres y 51% mujeres). Se administraron: una encuesta de síntomas alimentarios, el
inventario ICA, y una entrevista clínica en base a los criterios del
DSM-IV-TR. En una primera fase, se detectaron un 16.03% de
posibles casos. En la fase de entrevistas, sólo un 4.08% de la
muestra cumplió los criterios de un TCA (11 mujeres y 3 varones)
lo que representan al 6.79% de las mujeres y al 1.28% de los varones. El 77% correspondió a un TCA no especificado, y un 23%
a bulimia nerviosa. Los casos de bulimia nerviosa fueron exclusivamente femeninos. Los resultados confirman la mayor prevalencia de este tipo de patología en población femenina adolescente, siendo la proporción por género de 5.5.
