- ABSTRACT The following work is part of a broader investigation regarding psychomotor and cognitive of infants in the wichi and criolla cultures. The objective of this work was to analyze the scope of the health policies in the first childhood, in a diverse cultural context in Northern Argentina. Methodology was of a qualitative type where participant observation and field notes were used in the Wichi community of General Mosconi and in the General Enrique Mosconi Hospital (Operative Area XXVIII). Wichi and Criolla community usually barter in order to fulfill their basic needs. However, most of the time they are not able to achieve this. Access to the health system, for example, is blocked by cultural barriers not considered when working with infants in the hospital or even within the Wichi community. Situations are described that exemplifies the functioning of the health system, allowing to think of the necessity to create spaces to perform community transformation, in order to achieve the real inclusion in the health system of people belonging to different cultures.
RESUMEN
El siguiente trabajo forma parte de una investigación mayor sobre el desarrollo psicomotor y cognoscitivo de niños pertenecientes a la cultura wichi y criolla. El objetivo del presente estudio fue analizar y reflexionar el alcance de las políticas de salud en la primera infancia, en un contexto de diversidad cultural en el Noroeste Argentino. La metodología empleada fue de tipo cualitativo, y se utilizaron observaciones participantes y notas de campo, tomadas en la Comunidad Wichi de General Mosconi y en el Hospital General Enrique Mosconi AO (Área Operativa) XXVIII. Las comunidades wichi realizan cotidianamente intercambios con la comunidad criolla para satisfacer necesidades básicas que la mayoría de las veces, no alcanzan a cubrir. El acceso al sistema de salud, por ejemplo, se ve obstaculizado por diferencias culturales que no son tenidas en cuenta, al momento de realizar intervenciones con niños en el ámbito hospitalario o bien en la misma comunidad wichi. Se describen situaciones que ejemplifican el funcionamiento del Sistema de Atención en Salud que permiten pensar en la necesidad de crear espacios de intervención y transformación comunitaria, para la posible y real inclusión al Sistema de Salud, de poblaciones pertenecientes a culturas diferentes.
